The Hotel Russia

The Hotel “Russia” was built in 1964-1967 under the direction of an architect Chuchulin. In the hotel is a concert hall of 2500 seats, a cinema “Zaryad’e”, a lot of restaurants and cafes. “Russia” is situated in the centre on the bank of the Moscow River, just a few minutes walk from the Red Square, the Bolshoi Theatre, the Alexander Garden, big shopping malls. In the 1970s of the 20th century the hotel was added into the Guinness Book as the biggest hotel in the world.  Even nowadays the hotel “Russia” is the biggest hotel in Europe. It is sort of a Moscow business card. The windows of the hotel overlook the Kremlin and the Red Square, lots of architectural monuments and the bank of the Moscow River. There are important administrative and governmental buildings near the hotel, as well as museums, theatres and shopping malls, restaurants and casinos. There is a metro station “Kitai Gorod” just 3 min walk from the hotel.

There is a modern medical centre and a beauty salon in the hotel. There is an internet access in each room and a satellite TV with 20 international channels.

The hotel is unique for its location. It started operating in January 1967. It occupies a territory in 13 hectares and is consisted of four twelve-floored buildings. In the middle of the northern building there is a high-rise of 21 floors.

The hotel “Russia” is a town. There are restaurants, fashion shops, conference-halls, pool, night clubs, a library, sauna, laundry and dry cleaners, parking and auto service.

It has 2700 comfortable rooms including single, double rooms, semi-suites and suites.

Since the beginning of its operation the hotel has accommodated over 11 million guests and the Muscovites, including over 2 million foreigners.

There are gift shops, news kiosks, airways and rail tickets window, banks, currency exchange, a chemist’s, a post office, notary’s office, a library, hair dressers, beauty salon, laundry, dry-cleaners, clothes and shoes repair, first aid, gambling machines, billiards, health centre, sauna, solarium, massage, parking…

There is a business centre in the lobby of the hotel. In the northern building there are 5 conference-halls and negotiating rooms equipped with the modern devices. You can hire a secretary, an interpreter; rent a computer with internet access, use fax machines.

The hotel has four restaurants, a night club, and lots of cafes, canteens and bars. There are also 6 restaurants of the European and Asian cuisine. 

You may watch films in the cinema or spend your evening in the concert hall watching different entertainment programmes.
