Azerbaidjan
Azerbaidjan is an unusual country with the rich and ancient history. Here in the course of many centuries the rich cultural heritage forming part of the world civilization tresure was created. The historians relate the first formation of Azerbaijan state features to the first thousand B.C. The sources of the modern name of Azerbaidjan are linked with the states of Antropaten and Albania that existed in the antique age within its territory. Christianity penetrates in Azerbaidjan in the III – V centuries, spiritual and laic culture develops. In the VII century Azerbaidjan was conquered by Arab Caliphate. Islam became the predominant religion in Azerbaidjan. New traditions and culture stepping into the material and spiritual life of all subsequent generations were formed. Azerbaidjan is located at the junction of two continents, Europe and Asia, in the heart of Transcausian transport corridor where air and maritime ways, main motor and railways linking Europe with the countries of Caucasus and Central Asia run. Azerbaidjan performs the work on restoration of the route section of the Great Silk Way on a large scale. Occupying a relatively small territory, Azerbaidjan has the unique natural & climatic peculiarities. 9 of 11 climatic zones of our planet are represented within the territory of Azerbaidjan: from subtropics up to alpine meadows.
