Izmailovsky Park/flea market (Vernisazh)

Moscow has a big open-air market where sellers offer souvenirs and pieces of applied art. Its name is Vernisazh (Izmailovsky Flea Market, Craft Market). The market is surrounded by a wooden fortress (imitation of it) and is decorated with statues of creatures from Russian folklore. Here one can find different kinds of souvenirs at the best prices in the city. There are various kinds of traditional wooden matryoshka dolls, amber and silver jewellery, pre-war items and Soviet memorabilia, traditional Russian handicrafts and original aquarelle and oil paintings. At the market one can find souvenirs for all. The market is open mainly on he weekends from 09.00 until 18.00. It is better to go shopping here in the early morning because it becomes very crowded in the afternoon.
