The Project "Altai - Golden Mountains" is included into the list of the Universal Heritage under the aegis of UNESCO for inclusion  the number of natural objects of the Altai Republic (The Teletskoye Lake).

For beginners of travelling: This unique tour gives an opportunity to get the fullest impression of the valley of the Chulisman river, surrounded by the taiga, the Teletskoe lake.

During this tour you will get to know the Altai pearl – Teletskoe lake, you will take a motor ride across the valley of the Chulishman river, and visit the Chulcha waterfall; you will pick stony mushrooms at the site of Ak-Korum, and trekk the taiga. You will see the most powerful waterfall in Altai, cedar taiga, sub alpine meadows, mountain slopes covered with snow even in summer, colourful flower clearings, you will go into the atmosphere of ancient legends. The route doesn’t require special training; but it is also considered to be for physically strong people.

The itinerary of the trip

Day 1: Transfer from the airport of Barnaul to the tourist complex “Golden lake” which is located on the side of the Teletskoe lake. Free time. Evening program. Breakfast in Barnaul, lunch on the route, lunch in the tourist centre.

Day 2: Free time in the centre. An excursion across the picturesque surroundings of the tourist centre. An excursion to the Oirok river. The tourists will see a cascade of small, but very picturesque waterfalls, will learn about the flora of the area which is close to the tourist centre. An excursion to the Stone Bay. Sailing to one of the attractions of the Teletskoe lake - Stone Bay. A small saucer-like bay is surrounded by the arabesque talus ofdifferent size stones, from small up to the huge ones. Getting ready to walk the route. Evening program.

Day 3: Route walk. A trip across the Teletskoe lake towards the southern extremity – the Kirsay cape, a tourist base “Chulishman”. By motor shipor motor boat you will cross the Teletskoe lake and will admire the beauty of one of the deepest lakes of Russia. While you are there you can visit the waterfall of Korbu located within the area of the Altai State conservation area, its height is 12,5m. Tent-based sleeping accommodation close to the “Chlulishman” tourist base (80 km).

Day 4: Motor ride along the valley of the Chulishman river, the largest affluent of the Teletskoe lake. The Chulishman river flows in a deep valley the slopes of which amaze by their height and abruptness. The climate here is much drier and warmer than in the north of Teletskoe lake. There are mostly forests and steppes: osier, birch-tree, white willow, wild gooseberry. There are a lot of the archaeological monuments including the preserved fragments of old irrigation system in the valley. The path runs along the left side of Chulishman, alongthe branches of slow current (in its lower cease Chulishman calms the precipitant nature and slowly flows across the valley dividing into the branches anddistributaries. From the place of the Lower Achelman the tourists shall walk towards the waterfalls of the rivers of Achelman and Bozho. Further the track crosses the Altai village of Balikcha. The travelers will learn the living conditions of the native Altai population. We cross the Bashkaus river, the largest affluent of Chlishman, over the bridge. Tent-based sleeping accommodation on the left side of the Chulishman river in front of the fall of the Chulcha river. To the higher level we shall drive cross-country capability vehicles.

Day 5: By air-raft we reach the right side of Chulishman. Further we advance walking to the waterfall of Ulchar (it means “Stronghold” translated from the Altai language) located on the Chulcha river 8 km up in the course from its links with Chulishman. Chulcha flows in a deep rift and the way to reach the waterfall is not easy. There are precipitant stream passes on the way, stone taluses, separate rocky parts. The waterfallhas cascades; it falls from the height of 160 m. Our way back is the same. We get across Chulishman. Lunch. Tent-based sleeping accommodation. 16 km on foot.

Day 6: During the first half of the day there is a walk towards the site of Ak-Korum (“White talus”)in order to see so called stone mushrooms, megalithic natural structures reminding mushrooms in their form, located on the right side of Chulishman not far from the cease of Chulcha. The walk is short – 8 km. Lunch. Transfer to the place of staying at the rivers of Chebdar and Bashkaus (30 km). The path from the valley of Bashkaus to the valley of Chebdar runs across the high rocky crest. There is a breathtaking view of the rift from the top. Grayling is well hooked at the junction of two rivers. You may find a lot of abundant mushrooms and berries there. Sleeping accommodation on the river side, on a clearing surrounded by the pinery. Tent-based sleeping accommodation.

Day 7: Free day. Fishing. The experienced fishermen may hook grayling. Picking up mushrooms and berries. Radial route. Bath.

Day 8: The beginning of the mountainous part. The path runs along the canyon of the river of Chebdarand as abrupt serpentine climbs up to the valley of the river of Chaga (14 km, climb 1200 m). There is a view of Chebdar rift, the valleys of the river of Bashkaus and the river of Chulishman. It’s worth paying attention to the fact that there is no any water spring during some hours of climbing. Tent-based sleeping accommodation amid cedar taiga on the side of the river Chaga (1600 m above the sea level).

Day 9: Transfer to the place of Upper Kumurtuk (10 km). The path runs among cedar taiga and alpine meadows replaced by forest tundra. We overcome the low passage and stay for sleeping accommodation on a flat ground under a high cedar. There is a potable water spring nearby. Tent-based sleeping accommodation (1600m above the sea level).

Day 10: The longest pass to the stay of V.Achelman (24 km). The path runs mainly along mountainous tundra and dwarf birch-tree. The same day the group climbs to the top of Biler (2300m) and passes by Tanis (2044m) from which the going down to the valley of Chulishman. There is a view of the near-by mountains. The Sumultinsky ridge, the mountains of the Western Sayan, the tops of Altin-Tu, Korumbu is seen. Tent-based sleeping accommodation at the upper cease. (1250 m above the sea level).

Day 11: Going down the valley of Chulishman and transfer to the tourist base of “Chulishman” (16 km). An abrupt serpentine goes to the valley of Chulishman. While going down you may admire a beautiful view of the lake of Teletskoe and the valley of the river of Chulishman. Tent-based sleeping accommodation. Bath.

Day 12: Free day. Fishing. Walks. River bathing.

Day 13: Return to the tourist complex “Golden lake”. Lunch, Bath. Evening program. Farewell fire.

Day 14: Recreation in the tourist centre. 3-hour floating on air-bed RAFT along the river Biya. Departure for the airport of Barnaul.

Day 15: Departure for Moscow from the airport of Barnaul.

The price of the tour includes the air tickets Moscow-Barnaul-Moscow, transport service on the route, services of retinue, excursion program, cutter travels, accommodation on the route, guidance, and visits to conservation areas, medical insurance and accident insurance, boarding on the routes.
