We’d like to offer you an amazing trip around the wooden architecture monuments of the Russian North and Cargopol area. There are a lot of different types of the northern wooden Russian churches and chapels in their natural surrounding which are preserved. During the trip you will be surprisedby __ plenty of the monuments, temples’ painted “heavens”, virgin surrounding nature and quite provincial living conditions of the northern coast villages.
1 day – Arrival at the station of Niandoma by train Moscow-Archangelsk. Transfer to Cargopol. Hotel accommodation. Lunch in the cafe “Shelkovnia”. A pedestrian sight-seeing excursionround the city with the visit of the Nativity cathedral(there is a beautiful iconostasis inside the temple)andcathedral steeple uprising. A master class on modelling. Cargopol clay toys inthe House-museum of the Shevelev family. A private souvenir birch barks shop. Dinner.
2 day – Breakfast. A couch excursion to the Kenozersky National Park (90 km) in order to visit the church of Alexander Svirsky (18 century) situated on the Khizh hill over the White sea and Baltic water parting. There is a magnificent view of the Park’s lake system from the belfry’s sight terrace. A village picnic at the cordon near the lake of Maselga. Transfer to the village of Liadini – sightseeing of the triple ensemble of the wooden architecture monuments: the hip roof Pokrovo-Vlasievskaya church (1743), the multi-headed Bogoyavlenslaya church with a semicircular porch (1793) and hip roof belfry. The interior of the upper temple of the Pokrovo-Vlasievskaya church is painted with “heavens” of many parts. A visit to the school ethnographic museum-shop (rebirthof flax trade). A performance of the folklore company “Slavutnitsi”. A visit to the village of Krasnaya (Beautiful) Liaga where the hip roof Sreteno-Mikhailovskaya church (1655), the most ancient within the Cargopol area; it is preserved. Even now this church is called “rather amazing” because it is painted due to the carve wooden ornament which is can be seen the temple’s walls. Return to Cargopol. Dinner. You can rent a motor boat and sail along the water area of the lake Lache and the river Onega (upon request and extra charged).
3 day – Breakfast. Check out. A trip to the village of Saunino (5 km) where you can see an ensemble of the wooden architecture monuments – church of John Chrysostomus (1655) and the hip roof belfry with the belfry-based sight terrace. There are excitingly painted “heavens” inside the temple. A coach excursion to the settlement of Oshevenskoe (55 km) – Bogoyavlensky temple (1787), chapel of St. George in the village of Niz, the disappearing river of Khalui, the vow crosses and a worship stone. Bathing in the Holy lake. If there is spare time you can go to the village of Arkhangelo where the church of Michael the Archangelwith cubic coverings, the only church within the Cargopol area, is preserved. Lunch. Return to Cargopol. Transfer to Niandoma to the railway station. |
