This trip gives a great opportunity to learn the Russian History by visiting different cathedrals, monasteries and the architectural monuments. This is the trip to an old independent republic hidden among the boundless nature.
Day 1: Arrival in Moscow by air. Transfer to the railway station. A train ride to the city of Pskov. Train accommodation for the night.
Day 2: Breakfast. Accommodation in the hotel Lukomorie 4* Pskov. The city sight-seeing tour in Pskov. An excursion to the Kremlin that was built around the year of 1000 and you will also visit a fortress built in 1153. Lunch. A visit to the monastery Miroskyi (built in the 12th century). There are lots of beautiful frescos in the monastery. Free time. You can go local handicraft shopping (all the goods are of good quality). In the evening you will have a Russian bath. Dinner in the hotel.
Day 3: Breakfast. A 120-km-drive to the city of Peciorskyi. The city was founded in the 11th century. You shall visit the monastery and its catacombs. Lunch in the rural house. Then you shall visit a fortress Izborsk (built in the 14th century). In the afternoon you shall go back to Pskiv. Dinner in the hotel.
Day 4: Breakfast. A 60-km-drive to the village of Mihajlovskoi. The place was founded in the 18th century. You shall visit a museum of Pushkin (who was one of the greatest Russian poets). Lunch in a local rural house. A visit to the Svyatogorskyi Monastery of the 16th century. Dinner in the hotel.
Day 5: Breakfast. A 200-km-drive to the city of Novgorod Velikyi (Novgorod the Great). The city was founded around the year of 1000. You shall be accommodated in the hotel Volkov, 3*. After lunch in a typical restaurant of the city you will visit its Kremlin, and an excursion to the Cathedral of the St Sofia (built in the 11th century). In the Tower of the Cathedral there are a lot of marvelous frescos, mostly Greek. Then you shall go to the Yuiey Monastery (built in the 13th century). There is also the 16th and 18th century museum park of wooden churches. Dinner in the hotel.
Day 6: Breakfast. A 520km-drive to the village of Valdai built in the year of 1600. You shall visit the monastery of Yvierskyi of the 16° century and the museum of churches with its big collection of bells. You will have lunch in a typical restaurant of the city for then drive back to Novgorod. You will sail along the river Volkov. On the boat you will see the folk performance. You will dine in a restaurant of the city and then go to the railway station to depart for Moscow by train.
Day 7: Arriving in Moscow in the morning. You shall be accommodated in the hotel Izmailovo, 3*. An excursion to the Red Square and the church of St. Vasilyi. You can visit the mausoleum of Lenin and walk along the famous street Arbat where you will have lunch in a restaurant. After lunch you are going to step over 0-km of Moscow (an excursion with a guide). And a visit to the famous department store “GUM”..
Day 8: Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. |
