IMANDRA project is a sport-festival event that includes almost all the winter sail sports. The main class of the event is Kite.
The festival takes place in the latter half of April in the North of Russia beyond the Pole Circle on the Kola Peninsula in the town of Monchegorsk, on the ice of the biggest lake of the region – The Big Imandra (Bolshaya Imandra). The main project agenda includes one discipline of the super marathon on the distance of approximately 100 km. The participants are given 8 hours to get over it. Since the year of 2001 there were only 13 people out of 130, which finished without breaking any rules and control time. Since 2003 the festival includes the free style program: jumping and flying under kite with the performance of different stunts in the air. Since 2005 it is decided to hold the free style competition in the mountains to make it more complicated and impressive. The festival is unique for its place and conditions in which it is held, and also the program itself. There are over 50 participants and guests take part in the event. There are all the top sportsmen from Russia and the EU, champions of the world and national championships, almost all the elite of the Russian snow-kiting.
You will have an opportunity to dive into the whirlpool of this spring and windy madness. You will meet the participants personally. The event will end up with a great party where you will finally feel excitement.
For the first time the festival guests will be able to watch the tournament along the whole distance of 100 km and also to watch the kite-freestyle in the mountains or jibbing on the lake. It is really worth much. You can’t miss such an exciting performance. During your free days you will be able to visit all the winter areas of water situated about the town. You will get not only April Polar tent, but also to practice Kiting with the help of experience trainers. Some people get so excited that next year they participate in the festival as sportsmen.
