Day 1

8.00 a.m. - Arriving in Moscow. Meeting with our guide. Departure for Melikhovo.

Excursion to the A.P.Chekhov’s museum-estate with visiting the saint spring “Talezh” - two bathing-places, a church, and a chapel.

Departure for Polenovo.

Lunch.

Excursion including visit to the artist's house, walking within the territory of the estate, the preserve.

If you wish you may bath in the Oka River and lie on its sandy beach.

Departure for Yasnaya Polyana.

Accommodation in the holiday home "Yasnaya Polyana".

Dinner.

Melikhovo is the estate of Anton Chekhov, a famous Russian writer, where he spent the most significant years of his life and creation.

Polenovo is situated on the bank of the Oka River. There is a beautiful three-stored house of prominent landscape painter Vasilij Dmitrievich Polenov whose works you may find at the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Hermitage.

 

Day 2

Breakfast.

Excursion to the museum of "Yasnaya Polyana" with visiting S.A.Tolstaya's rooms (normally they are closed for tourists). The excursion is held by a member of scientific staff. Visiting the Lev Tolstoy’s tomb and the favourite bench of the writer.

Lunch.

Lecture on the subject - Lev Tolstoy's philosophic ethics, "War and Peace", "Anna Karenina", "Resurrection", etc – upon the choice.

Dinner.

Visiting the theater, philharmonic society, circus – upon the choice.

Yasnaya Polyana is a native land of the famous writer and philosopher Lev Tolstoy, where he lived for over 60 years of his life, wrote his most significant works such as "War and Peace", "Anna Karenina", "Resurrection". The unique example of the Russian estate of the 19th century.

 

Day 3

Breakfast in the coacher's house on the territory of the estate: drinking tea from the wood-fired samovar with eating pies baked by S.A.Tolstaya's recipes and listening to the stories about customs and traditions, about the Russian countryside. Horse riding (on the horseback and in the

carriage).

Interactive seminar "The Tolstoy's traditions" with showing the family archive photos.

Lunch.

Excursion to the Kochaki Necropolis and the Nikolo-Kochakovskaya Church (the family churchyard of the Tolstoys’).

Excursion to the historical restored railway station "Kozlova Zaseka", seeing the unique station, the stationmaster's office.

Dinner at an entertainment complex. The Russian disco. Late check out of the hotel.

The coacher's house is a small house with interior of the Russian house: there are wooden tables and benches, a stove, a samovar, and icons. The staff is dressed into the traditional Russian clothes.

The Kochaki Necropolis – The Nikolo-Kochakovskaya Church is situated just 5 kilometres from the estate and not far from the churchyard of the Tolstoys’.

Kozlova Zaseka - is the historical restored railway station that is closely connected with Lev Tolstoy’s life.

 

Day 4

Breakfast. Departure for Tula. The tour round the town with visiting the Kremlin. Excursion to the museum of the Russian Honey Cake with having a tea break. Visiting the souvenir shop. Interactive excursion in the Torture Tower and the Armoury equipment of the XVI century. You may practice in archery on the territory of the Kremlin.

Lunch in the cafй.

Free time - shopping in the central market, visiting the smith house, where you’ll learn the work of the smith – upon the choice.

Dinner. 

Tula was first mentioned in the Nikonov's chronicle in the year of 1146; in ancient times it was the south border of the Russian state. Modern Tula is situated 200 kilometres from Moscow; the population is 600 000 people; nowadays it's a big industrial and cultural centre.  

The Honey cake museum is unique and represents the history of the honey cake baking in Russia; the museum’s collection numbers over 1000 sweet samples.  

Torture Tower and the Armoury of the XVI century consists of 3 levels: level 1 is a dark room where torture shows are held; level 2 is the armoury full of spears, chain mails and swords; level 3 was used for duels on spears, torches and swords.   

 

Day 5

Breakfast. Departure. Camping. Cooking food (barbecue). Excursion to the cave "'underground lake" where you may see the cave “decorations” - stalactites and stalagmites, and traces of the ancient fossil shells. Spending the night in camp.

The Cave is located in the Tula's region, 70 km from “Yasnaya Polyana”. The total length of the caves is 75 km. There are caves, underground lakes and the underground stone mines.

 

Day 6

Breakfast. Departure for Yasnaya Polyana.

Lunch.

"Secret of the traditional handicraft" - patchwork, flora, ceramics, the Russian rag dolls, the lace exhibition, the master class with the help of professionals in the craftwork.

Dinner. 

Entertainment: The Russian and Gipsy’s romances (favourite songs of the Tolstoy's family).

 

Day 7

Breakfast. Departure for Moscow.

Excursion to the Prioksko-Terrrasniy preserve which is the museum of nature and the central bison nursery, and the beaver dam (although there is no chance to meet beavers as they are night animals).

Lunch.

The approximate arriving time in Moscow is 17 p.m.

Proksko-Terrrasniy preserve is located to the south of the Moscow region, on the banks of the Oka River. The preserve is protected by UNESCO. It was founded in 1945. Such animals as caucuses and the elovejskiy bison live there. Fareast raccoon like dogs, beavers and elks live there in safety.
