Day 1
8.30 - Departure from Moscow for Melikhovo.
10.00 - Excursion to the museum of Chekhov, one of the most famous Russian writers.
11.30 - Visiting the saint spring “Talezh” - a bathhouse, church and a chapel.
13.30 - Lunch in Polenovo.
14.30 - Excursion to the house of the Russian fine artists. Walking along the banks of the Oka River.
16.30 - Departure for Yasnaya Polyana. A tour around the town of Tula.
18.30 - Accommodation in the Yasnaya Polyana Hotel.
19.30 – Dinner.
Melikhovo is the museum-estate of Chekhov - the dramatic Russian writer who spent there the fruitiest years of his creative life.
Polenovo is located on the banks of the Oka River. You may see a beautiful cottage of more than one hundred years old, that used to belong to V.Polenov, the remarkable Russian fine artist of the landscapes; his fine works are presented in the Tretyakov Gallery and the Hermitage.
Day 2
9.00 – Breakfast.
10.00 - Excursion around the Tolstoy's museum “Yasnaya Polyana”.
12.00 - Horse riding.
12.30 - Interactive excursion to the coachman's house. You will be offered the delicious Russian pasty with tea poured from the Samovar (the traditional Russian cattle) and a house liqueur. The hosts are dressed into countryside style and will meet you in the log house where there is a Russian stove, wooden benches and a table, the red corner, spinning wheel, rag dolls and many other things. The host himself will tell you the stories about the Russian traditions and customs. Then you will enjoy the music program of a folk band.
14.30 - Lunch in the a cafй “Preshpekt”.
16.00 - Visiting of a national handy craft exhibition, which includes patch works, floristic, ceramic, the traditional Russian rag dolls as well as studies with the professionals of the handy craft. You will be able to create your own dolls and practice in floristic.
An additional offer is to visit the Kochakovski Necropolis, which is a family cemetery with a church.
19.00 - Dinner in “Preshpekt”.
Yasnaya Polyana is the motherland of Lev Tolstoy, the greatest Russian writer and philosopher. He spent more than 60 years of his life creating such masterpieces as War and Peace, Anna Karenina, Sunday. Yasnaya Polyana is the finest example of the Nobel estate of the XIX century.
Day 3
08.00 - Breakfast , departure for Spasskoe-Lutovinivo.
11.00 - Excursion round the Turgenev museum-estate.
13.00 - Lunch in Mzensk.
15.00 - Excursion to the Bunin or Leskov museums.
16.00 - The tour around Orel city. Accommodation at the hotel.
19.00 - Dinner, there might be an option to have it in the family.
Spasskoe-Lutovinovo is an estate of the Russian writer Ivan Turgenev, where he created the most important novels known as Fathers and Children, Nest of Gentlefolk, On the Eve .You will be pleased with the views of the parks and ponds.
It 's about 140 kilometers from Yasnaya Polyana to Spasskoe-Lutovinovo and 40 kilometers from Spasskoe to Orel city.
Day 4
08.30 – Breakfast. Departure for Elez.
10.00 - Tour round the town of Elez: the Voznesenskiy Cathedral, shopping for the Elez lace.
13.00 – Lunch. Departure for the Zadonskiy monastary, excursion.
19.00 - Dinner in Orel.
Its 90 kilometers from Elez to Orel, and 45 kilometers from Elez to the monastery.
Elez is an ancient town of 850 years old. There are the remained historical centre, many churches and in the very centre there is the Vozniskiy Cathedral.
The Elez lace is hand made with the help of lace bobbin; the threads are mainly so-called white bobbin rare linen.
Day 5
08.30 - Breakfast , departure for Dyadkovo, excursion round the factory of the crystal producing. There you will find out how the factory operates and visit the museum of crystal and shop as well as the chapel with crystal iconostasis.
14.00 - Lunch, departure for Smolensk, accommodation at the hotel “Smolensk”.
19.00 –Dinner.
The crystal factory of Dyadkovo is more than 200 years old. The Russian industrialists found it in 1790. Today the crystal is produced and decorated by hands. It is known for its original design and difficult handwork, and high standard quality. These crystal good are put on the tables during the parliamentary sessions in the Kremlin for more than 40 years.
Day 6

10.00 - Tour around Smolensk.
13.00 – Lunch.
14.00 - Departure for Talashkino Maria Tenyasheva's former estate, who was the princess, patron and a collector.
19.00 – Dinner.
Smolensk is one of the most ancient cities of Russia. It is older than Moscow, about the same period as Kiev and Novgorod.
The architecture is worth seeing especially the churches of the XII century, the cathedral hill, the Uspenskiy cathedral (XVII) and the fortress wall of the XVI century.
Talashkino was one of the most important fine art centres of Russia in the end of the XIX and beginning of the XX century, nowadays it is connected with the studying and reviving the traditions of the Russian applied arts. Talashkino has many common features of Italy in the Renaissance period rather than Russia in the XIX century. It was here where most famous Russian artists worked such as Repin, Vrubel, Korovin and Ririkh. There is a big collection of icons, crosses, laces, and spinning wheels in Teremok. The church of the Holly Spirit with wonderful mosaic is made by the Rerikh's sketches.
Day 7
08.00 – Breakfast.
09.00 - Departure for Borodino or Hmelita (the Griboedov's estate).
