IRKUTSK (BAIKAL LAKE) + MOSCOW + ST.PETERSBURG

DAY 1 - Irkutsk

Arrival in Irkutsk. Youll be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel «Marriott Courtyard». Check-in.

A city tour. (Irkutsk is one of the greatest Siberian cities and by right considers itself the capital of Eastern Siberia. Irkutsk is located in the very center of Asia. It is 5042 kilometers and 5 time zones from Moscow, and 8 time zones from Greenwich. During the city tour you will explore the main sites: see the Kirov Square, where the Savior Church, the Epiphany Cathedral and the Catholic Church are situated. You will be invited for a walk along the embankment of River Angara. It offers you a chance to see the White House and the monument of Alexander the 3rd. During the tour a guide will show you around the area, where 350 years ago the city was founded. At the end of the tour youll visit a new part of the town kvartal 130 with modern buildings as well as restored old wooden houses. There are a lot of cafes, restaurants, museums, exhibition halls and souvenir shops there). The lunch is at a city restaurant.

DAY 2 - Irkutsk

Breakfast at the hotel.

10.00 An Ust-Orda Village excursion to the Ust-Orda Settlement - the center of Buddhist and Shamanist Culture in Eastern Siberia. In Ust-Orda in the museum of Local History the guests will be able to get acquainted with the culture of local Siberian people Buryats, their folklore and main belief Shamanism. (Ust-Orda District is interesting because from generation to generation it is protected by traditional culture of the Buryat. The excursion will give you a chance to get acquainted national games and shaman rites, as well as to taste the national dishes of Buryat cuisine).The program of the excursion:

  • Departure to Ust-Orda, a Buryat village is 70 km away from Irkutsk.
  • Visiting the ethnographic museum of Ust-Orda to get acquainted with one of the most ancient Siberian peoples culture and customs.
  • Meeting a shaman. Purgation ceremony.
  • Lunch including dishes of Buryat cuisine.

DAY 3 - Irkutsk

Early breakfast.

07.15 Transfer to the railway station.

08.00 One-day trip along the Circum Baikal railway with several stops from 15 minutes to 1 hour to see different sights. This is a special tourist train, very comfortable inside. Meals full board. 

The section of the Trans Siberian Railroad on the southern shore of Baikal from Port Baikal to Kultuk is called the Circum Baikal Railway and was built more than 100 years ago. There are a lot of beautifully constructed tunnels and bridges along the way, making the Circum-Baikal a monument in itself. The total length of its 39 tunnels is 7 km and the railroad is 86 km long. The Circum-Baikal railway was used for Trans-Siberian trains starting from 1904 until 1950s, when the new direct railway from Irkutsk to Slyudyanka was built. Nowadays, Circum-Baikal is a quiet picturesque route to enjoy lake Baikal.

18.00 youll arrive in your final destination Baikal Port, take a ferry to the opposite bank of Angara river to Listvyanka settlement.

19.00  Bus transfer to the hotel. Check in.

DAY 4 - Irkutsk

10.00 Listvyanka sightseeing.

Listvaynka is the most popular place on the lake Baikal. It is 1-hour-drive form Irkutsk and for many tourists the acquaintance with the lake stars form this place. Listvyanka also combines history and modernity: at the first blush it is a modern town with a lot of hotels and hostels, developing infrastructure, but when you go further you will find great nature, immense lake and mountains. (Excursion of Listvyanka town includes the most interesting sites and provides good piece of information about local history, culture, traditions and nature. The small but tourist-wise village of Listvyanka is located on the western shore of Lake Baikal, 70 km from Irkutsk. This old-style Siberian village is famous for its trade history. Since the 18th century its ferry has been taking merchants across the lake to Mongolia and China and the Far East. The best museum of Lake Baikal's flora and fauna (Limnological Museum) has a great collection of unique facts, samples and creatures as well as a new aquarium with seals, fish, sponges and Crustacea. It is a real highlight of the tour. The old church of St. Nicolas, a chair lift to the Cherskiy peak view point, Angara river outlet with a shaman stone, a souvenir market are the other attractions of Listvyanka. In the town, a variety of hot- or cold-smoked and salted omul and grayling fish is on sale. A great snack on the shore is omul, a delicacy of Lake Baikal, which has been just smoked for you).

13.00 Lunch in Taltsy. At the end of the tour youll be taken to The Museum of wooden architecture in the open air Taltsy. Architectural-ethnographic museum "Taltsy" is a unique storage of history and culture of the peoples of Eastern Siberia. The museum is located in a picturesque place on the right bank of the Angara River. Territory of the Museum is 67 hectares. It is composed of more than 40 historical and architectural monuments and 8000 exhibits of great historical value. Youll be offered to taste traditional Russian cuisine in a caf located on the territory of the museum.

16.00 Transfer to Irkutsk to the hotel.

DAY 5 - Irkutsk-Moscow

Breakfast.

Check-out, transfer to the airport.

Early flight to Moscow.

Arrival in Moscow. Transfer to the hotel.

A Moscow city tour (3,5-4 hours). Includes all main highlights of the Russian capital. Lunch.

DAY 6 - Moscow

Breakfast at the hotel.

10.00 An excursion to the Moscow Kremlin. Territory + Armory Chamber. Total duration 3,5 hours.

Lunch.

15.00 A walking tour along the Arbat Street, Moscows most famous street for shopping the Russian souvenirs and acquaintance with historical buildings.

DAY 7 - Moscow

12.00 Check-out, free time.

Time of departure from the hotel to the Leningradskyi railway station depends on the particular train departure time to St.Petersburg. Lunch.

An evening train departure to St. Petersburg by Sapsan train (class 2).

Arrival in St. Petersburg and transfer to thehotel.

Youll be met at the railway station by a guide and transferred to the hotel.

Moscow - St.Petersburg
